Not all stress is bad. Stress is a normal response to the demands of work and can be beneficial in short bursts, helping you stay alert and perform at your best. Elite athletes often believe that adrenaline, one of the main stress hormones, is helpful in improving performance. It is the ‘flight or fight’ hormone, so you can harness it to help you to ‘fight’. Changing your mind-set to embrace adrenaline can be a good start to changing how you view stress. This holds true if you have taken steps to reduce and avoid it more generally. What are your stressors? Do you know how to identify the good stress? Over the next week, take notice and jot down what has caused you stress, from the push to get a project done to something that might be causing you longer term distress. Download our “What’s Stressing You Out” canvas to help identify these. Once you have identified these, here are 3 ways to manage your stressors: • Develop healthy responses • Establish boundaries • Take time to recharge By taking time to recharge you are giving yourself a break to disengage the situation. Use Mindful Doodling as an outlet for stress relief. If you want to learn how to take a Doodle Break after you have identified your stressors, connect with us and we would be happy to help! Let’s all feel better, work better and live better this season leading up to the holidays. |
