Are you looking to access more of your creativity? Especially at work?
And if so, do you even know how to do that?
Are you also worried you might not have any more creativity to unlock?
The fact that you’re even asking these questions is a good thing. And the first step.
Like most things in life, removing blocks or old ways of thinking is key to accessing what resides within.
When we are relearning to access our creativity, this looks different for each individual. For some it may be jumping right into a creative endeavour, and for others this is a softer and slower process.
Here’s a simple, two-step framework for accessing more of your creativity:
Step One – Give yourself permission
Let the wall down. Give yourself permission to allow the access, opening the door, and taking one step at a time. You may feel like a child on a bike for the very first time, wobbly, and it is less than picture perfect. Do not judge yourself. Every time you give yourself permission to access this creative self, you are strengthening your creative muscle.
Take a moment if you feel stuck here. If you were able to remove this block and access your creativity, how do you think you would feel?
Step Two – Create and repeat
Like anything, doing things consistently, creates a habit and with this habit you start to see and feel the reward. Every time you exercise your creativity, you are building creative confidence and are connected to your authentic self.
One of the easiest ways to start igniting the creative spark within is to grab a pen or pencil, a piece of paper, and start doodling.
Doodling helps connect seemingly disparate ideas and makes them come alive.
